Marysville firm fined, ordered to stop selling in state

A Marysville company that sold breast enhancement and other products over the Internet has been fined $34,000 and ordered to stop selling its products in the state of Washington, according to a settlement reached with the Attorney General's Office.

Omni Bio Tech International Inc., which also did business as Small Breast Solutions, sold breast enhancement, male and female sexual enhancement, and weight-loss products that cost up to $349 from a variety of Web sites, according to a statement. The company made "unsubstantiated claims of effectiveness" for the products it sold. "Products that claim to improve physical appearance will always be an easy sell. Unfortunately, the evidence to back up the claims is often less than skin deep," said Christine Gregoire, attorney general, in a statement. On the Web site, claims are made such as "If you want a breast lift, larger, fuller, firmer breasts, or to even out breasts that are asymmetrical (one larger than the other), then this is the product for you."

In the settlement, the company agreed to pay $34,000 in civil penalties and legal costs, pay refunds to dissatisfied customers, and to stop selling its products in the state.
