HOUSTON -- Padded bras, push-up bras and water bras are big sellers for women who want to make their busts look bigger. So, what if you could get a real lift and fullness without lingerie or surgery that's only temporary? Some Houston women have found a solution in 24-hour breasts, Local 2 reported Tuesday.
The search for bigger breasts without surgery has women beating down the door to Dr. Janet Allenby.
"I think we always laughed about how we wish we had a valve we could just put in and fill up the breasts. And I think we're actually doing that with this," Allenby said.
Allenby stumbled onto the idea during a liposuction breast reduction where she noticed swelling in the most interesting places.
"It feels fuller and that's what I wanted to accomplish," she said.
Allenby used saline to give a boost to the chest.
"The beauty of it is it's a natural product. It's something that's already in your body, so you don't have any risk of allergy or adverse effect," Allenby said.
"I have cleavage when I didn't and just as quickly I'm not going to have it anymore. But it's a nice experience. It's a lot of fun," an unidentified patient said.
But plastic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose said the procedure is not all fun and games.
"There is no ethical board-certified plastic surgeon in this universe that would do such a thing," he said. "It is subjecting patients to a medical procedure that has no benefit beyond 24 hours. People need to understand plastic surgery is certainly not like going to the grocery store. To do this every weekend or something on that nature is something that is malpractice in my estimation."
Rose pointed out that Allenby is a dermatologist and not a certified plastic surgeon.
The 20-minute procedure costs $250 and lasts about 24 hours, or 48 hours if you're lucky.
The saline solution flushes out through your system.
